Jesus said:“Blessed are they who mourn, for I will bring them comfort”
Matthew 5: 4
Each year – usually the first Saturday in June – the Seekers and Searchers group organise a day for families and friends who have been bereaved within the last 2 years to come together for a special service and the sharing of thougths as they remember their loved ones.
Within the service there is always time set apart to quietly reflect and to participate in an act of remembrance.Over the past years this has taken the form of lighting candles, placing memory stones in the reflective fountain, writing cards and hanging them on the memory tree. This year on Wednesday 8th October, we have asked those who attended this year to come back to the church and plant snowdrop seeds in the church grounds. These wee hardy plants bud and blossom each year no matter the kind of winter we have and are symbolic of new life.
If you have been bereaved more than 2 years ago then please feel free to come along and join us at 12.30 on 8th October and plant a seed in memory of your loved one. Also feel free to contact Rev Kay if you have been bereaved but live outside the parish – therefore you won’t have been contacted about this service - but would like to come along to one of our services.
